Dr. Carole Oglesby (Introduction)
Former president of WSI. Leading professor in gender equality Carole Oglesby has been in the professoriate for fifty years. She earned a PhD in Kinesiology at Purdue University in 1969 and a PhD in Counseling at Temple University in 1999. Carole’s scholarly career has been devoted to growth and development in two areas; women’s/gender studies in sport and sport psychology. She has held major leadership positions in virtually all academic and advocacy organizations in these areas. She was the inaugural president of the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, president National Association of Girls and Women’s Sport, Trustee of the Women’s Sport Foundation, President of Women Sport International, Co Chair for International Working Group for Women in Sport, Executive Board of the U.S. Collegiate Sports Council, U.S. Olympic Committee Board of Directors, Association for Applied Sports Psychology Health Psychology Chair and Executive Board member, former Advisory Board Beyond Sport, Boards of Somali Women Foundation and Sheeroes of India.
She has received major awards and recognitions from many of these organizations. She was awarded the AIAW Award of Merit, NAGWS Honor Fellow and Women’s Sports Foundation Billie Jean King Award; American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Honor Award, R. Tait McKenzie Award for service outside the profession, C.D. Henry Award for service to racial and ethnic minorities. She was the first woman nominated to give the Coleman Griffith Lecture at AAASP. She was the first recipient of the Boris Planchard Medal for service to Girls and Women’s Sport in Latin America. She received the America Psychological Association Div. 47 Lifetime Achievement Award in Public Service and also the Phillip Noel Baker Research Award of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education, Lyn Vendien Lifetime Leadership Award International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women. In 2021, she received the Applied Sport Psychology Award for Distinguished Professional Service.
Carole served as a liaison for global women’s sport advocacy community to the United Nations. As a culmination of this role, she was principle author/contributor for a UN-Division for the Advancement of Women monograph entitled Women, Gender Equality and Sport, translated in four languages and released March 2008. Having published over 50 chapters, articles, essays, five books or monographs and advised 49 successful PhD students at Temple University, her own doctoral work in counseling was a culmination of a lifetime of observation that sport, and other high performance contexts, can bring trauma as well as positive development. She is presently working on the development of research focused on the role of so-called “active therapies” in the healing of trauma. She is Co Chair of the WSI Task Force “Sport in a Post Binary Word”.
Diane Huffman (WSI)
Diane Huffman is a senior advisor and consultant to the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports. She focuses on equitable, fair and safe sports for girls and women. Diane believes in partnership and collaboration to achieve success. Her community development and planning expertise has enabled advocacy groups to challenge policy, promote behaviour change and build opportunities for girls and women in Canada, southern Africa and Asia. As the president of WSI, Diane is working with a strong team ensuring the strength of WSI is moving the agenda of increasing opportunities for women in leadership and participation in sport.
Rachel Froggatt (IWG)
Secretary General, International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Chief Executive Officer, Women in Sport Aotearoa New Zealand. She has a career in global sport spanning more than 20 years, primarily working in commercial, marketing and more recently, sport for development roles. She has collaborated with international sporting bodies, including FIFA, FIA and World Rugby, as well as worked extensively with many high-profile global brands and rights holders across in Formula 1 and other motorsports, football, rugby and Paralympic sport. Major clients have included Allianz (Mercedes F1; FC Bayern Munich), Shell (Ferrari F1 and Ducati MotoGP), NTT DoCoMo (Renault F1) and Ford (Champions League). She has won awards in New Zealand her work promoting the rights of disabled people through the Paralympic Movement.
For the past three years, she has stewarded the development of the women in sport movement across New Zealand. Rachel and her team will deliver the 8th IWG World Conference on Women & Sport in May 2022, both in-person in Auckland and online via a virtual platform.
Rosa López de D’Amico (IAPESGW)
BA (PE); BA (Foreign Languages) cum laude, MEd (Literature), PhD (Sport Organization) and Ewing Postdoctoral Fellowship (University of Sydney). Professor at Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador, Venezuela and Coordinator of the research Center ‘EDUFISADRED’. With nearly 190 publications, she has been speaker in the five continents. She received the CDCHT Award (Venezuelan Universities Council for Scientific Development) and the Gold Medal award (ICHPER-SD). Current IAPESGW President; ISCPES Vice President; and WASM Treasurer. Expert reviewer of UNESCO QPE policy project and Advisor to the Ministry of Education in Venezuela for PE and foreign language programs.

Tansin Benn (Global Observatory – Collaborative Work)
IAPESGW Past president. She was Professor at the University of Birmingham, UK where she worked for 25 years as lecturer, teacher trainer (Physical Education), researcher and programme leader from Undergraduate to Doctoral level studies.
Honorary Life member of IAPESGW, winner of international awards with the Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship, the Phillip Noel Baker Award of ICCSPE and the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Muslim Women in Sport Foundation.
She started her career as a teacher of physical education and was a volunteer coach and international judge in the sport of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics for over 20 years, including holding offices in the British Gymnastics Association. She also developed a world-first customized, part-time post graduate study opportunity for international professional dancers of The Birmingham Royal Ballet Company with Birmingham University UK from 1997 – 2013. She is currently a volunteer with AgeUk in the area of Aging and Physical Activity.
