As we move into Spring or Autumn, one thing glaring reality is that 2020 has been a year of unbelievable change and adaption.
We are living with uncertainty every day. Throughout the globe, we are living differently. We are communicating digitally and behaving differently – such as always wearing masks in public. And we do not know how long Covid-19 is going to impact our lives.
Since our last Update, an anti-racism and discrimination campaign, Black Lives Matter, which originated in the US, has expanded around the world – in part, on the powerful platform of professional sports, including women’s sports. It’s impressive to watch how quickly this campaign has grown, with athletes using their voices for good.
With all that is happening, please stay safe and well – both mentally and physically. Look after yourself, your family, friends and your community.
For IAPESGW, we have held our 2020 AGM online and the Board continues to communicate via email and WhatsApp. We have agreed to hold our 2021 Quadrennial Congress in China at Tianjin University of Sport, in September, after the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. A media release with more details will be announced soon.
In other news, IAPESGW has successfully collaborated with the Indian Ministry of Youth and Sport in an innovative June and August online certificate course for PE Teachers and Community Coaches. Some of our Executive Board and our Country Representatives gave presentations. Well done everyone!
