IAPESGW at FISU World Conference 2025 – Presenter at ICSSPE Workshop on Inclusivity in University Sport

On July 19, 2025, ICSSPE hosted a thought-provoking and highly engaging workshop, “An Inclusive Approach to University Sport: Defining the Path Forward”, as part of the FISU World Conference in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. Held in Bochum, the event brought together experts, athletes, and academics from around the world.

The session, moderated by Prof. Dr. Ruth Crabtree (Sheffield Hallam University and ICSSPE Executive Board Member), sparked vibrant dialogue and deep reflection, with enthusiastic participation from the audience.

The panellists brought diverse perspectives and expertise to the table:

  • Rosa Diketmüller (IAPESGW, University of Vienna, Austria) shared insights on gender, diversity, and health promotion in sport.
  • Karin Volkwein-Caplan (West Chester University, USA) explored cultural dynamics and sustainability within university sports structures.
  • Kim Robins (Paralympian, Australia) offered a powerful personal narrative on overcoming barriers through sport and championing inclusion for athletes with disabilities.

The panel examined key themes such as the barriers faced by underrepresented groups, the influence of institutional policies and cultural practices on participation, and innovative strategies being used around the world to foster inclusive sport environments. Audience members, actively engaged with the panel, asking critical questions and sharing their own experiences from campuses globally.

Congratulation! IAPESGW members elected for ICSSPE positions

At the last ICSSPE General Assembly on July 20th, 2025 at the German Sport Institute in Cologne / Germany three IAPESGW members have been elected for ICSSPE (International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education) board positions.

Prof. Annette Hofmann (Germany), IAPESGW member, new President of ICSSPE.

Prof. Beatriz Ferreira (Brazil), IAPESGW executive board member, has been elected for Vice President of ICSSPE and will be chair of the ICSSPE Development Commitee.

Prof. Usha Sujit Nair (India), IAPESGW executive board member, has been elected as a board member of the ICSSPE Development Commitee.

70th Anniversary of KAPESGW in Seoul – Nov 1-2, 2024

The Korean Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women celebrated on November 1-2 2024 its 70th Anniversary! The oldest daughter association celebrated seven decades of engagement for women and girls in Physical Education and Sports with a two-day International Congress. It was a pleasure for the president of IAPESGW, Rosa Diketmueller, to deliver the greetings personally in Seoul!
